fell into my lap yesterday. Even though the weather was windy and chilly (and I was a bit under it), lots of lovely scenery involving nature and wildlife was enjoyable.This beaky boy among the tufa formations is probably going to lunch on some of the brine shrimp found abundantly in the waters of Mono lake.Evidently they thrive in the mud too. Last night's local news coverage gave the scantiest of passing nod to some of yesterday's best events.First, the local university engineering department won the regional concrete canoe contest. The kids have been duly taken on their promised hike. I had in mind this easy trail for them, but, nothing doing!They wanted to go across the street and climb up Rattlesnake "Mountain". I had been up there before and knew it was do-able for the kiddies. It overlooks the airport (and many other places). Mr. Sunny and I have been there at dusk and enjoyed watching planes coming in for a landing.

We joined with some kids and their parents for a ride on some of the lovely bike paths around Lake Tahoe. Sunny kept up and in fact finished the course ahead of anyone else-barely, and only because Mr. Sunny was gracious enough to give her the lead. This is the point where outlet of the lake forms the start of the Truckee River. The bridge is locally known as "fanny" bridge. No one knows for sure
