Plum Crazy

The plums were so thick on the trees this year that their weight broke a branch off. Too bad we don't eat them. They're thick on the ground too. I've been scooping them up with a dust pan to dump in the garbage.

Eat 'em up quick before the wasps and hornets find out all the sticky, sweet goodness is going a begging.

I don't suppose you remember this poem from Miss Brace's English class... Your picture brought it to mind...

This Is Just to Say
by William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

Rondi, I would never have thought of that little poem again had you not posted it here. Funny, I had just been thinking of Miss Brace after Patty's posting of Robert Frost.
